Biking is always a hobby for people looking and lurking for adventures. Bicycles also called bikes are not new in origin and the history of bicycles can be dated to be as old as 1817. Bikes are credited to have been invented in France.
Raleigh bikes are an extremely known name in the biking world. Most people over the world would have heard of Raleigh. There is an curious story about the history of Raleigh bikes. It was back 1887 when a well off man Frank Bowden went to the Raleigh street. to obtaina bike. He was told by the doctors to ride a bicycle to help his health conditions. He liked the bike so much that he bought the bicycle shop and gradually the company became extremely successful. The bikes were named after the road which was of course Raleigh Street and it was christened Raleigh Cycles in the memory of the first address.
In the following six years it became the number one business in the world. It operated a big area in Nottingham in England (Famous for Robin Hood also) . In 1939 the production of bicycles was moved to Ireland. The Chopper was one of the historic versions which were made at the factory in Ireland.
The Raleigh Chopper was initially produced for the kidsin the early 1970s. It had a different design which made it hugley popular and one of the most remembered Raleigh variants. The 1970s generation still has great memories of that bike. The chopper bike was the bicycle passion of every child of that1 decade and wanted to have one for themselves. It gave them a very great look.
The Raleigh Grifter was another bike built for children. It hit the market after the chopper and also gained a huge fan base amongst the kids. Its sales increased and soon was the best selling Bike of its time.. The MK1 grifter was sold around 1976 and continued to be in produced until 1979.
The Raleigh burner was released into the market in 1982 and it was a replacement of Grifter. It was manufactured until 1988 and the re released around 2000. There were six variants of Burner like MK1, MK Pro Burner, MK2 Burner, MK2 Aero Pro Burner, Team Frame and Styler.
